Huge honour to be selected for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2024!

AFTER THE RAIN, 50 X 54 cm , oil on canvas
This prestigious exhibition is the world’s oldest open show, showcasing exceptional art since 1769.

My piece, “AFTER THE RAIN,” will be on display from June 18th to August 18th. Come see it!

Being selected is a dream come true! The Royal Academy is renowned for recognising artistic excellence, so it’s incredibly validating. It means my work is seen alongside some of the best contemporary artists.

This exhibition is a chance to celebrate my heritage – both Romania, where I’m from, and Great Britain, my adopted home.

The traditional procession which, every year, takes the winning artists of the Summer Exhibition onto a walk from Burlington House to St James’s Church, Piccadilly, was pretty emotional for me and it will stay with me for a long time, a dear memory of my first ever participation in this highly-reputed competitive event.
Hope for many to come.

Then, please find my chosen work in Gallery 2, position no. 80. I ought to say there is another Romanian fellow exhibited in the same room (see the photo with the whiteish-grayish, square painting). His name is Adrian Dica and im happy he accompanied me during the event.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

Dear Mr. Radu,

The King has asked me to thank you personally for creating the beautiful painting which was presented to His Majesty by the Ambassador and to say how many treasured memories it evoked of Transylvania, its landscape and culture and of the deep fondness which His Majesty feels for Romania and its people.

The King could not have been more delighted, marvelling at your exquisitely
vivid composition, and the work will give His Majesty very great pleasure in anticipation of future visits to those wonderful forests, villages and hills.

His Majesty was delighted, as Patron of the Royal Academy, to hear that you had
a work on display this year at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and this letter comes with The King’s congratulations, grateful thanks and very best wishes.

For the past three years I have lived and worked in the United Kingdom, going through all the hurdles of getting accommodated and great efforts to further develop and refine my artistic techniques. I have to say that all this struggle is beginning to pay off, as I have had the great honor of being selected on the shortlist of one of the most important and prestigious art exhibitions in the world: Royal Academy of Arts – Summer Exhibition, with the work Yellow Flowers.

I would like to address my humble thanks to the Royal Academy of Arts committee and to all those that are continually supporting my efforts and are unconditionally believing in me. Your commitment to my work is what makes me motivated to keep pushing the limits of success higher and higher.
